DHR will be getting this handsome boy from Morrow County some help! We will be picking him up from the vet where they are keeping him comfortable (pain meds) in the morning and taking him to Medvet Columbus emergency. What we know so far is he was hit by a car and has a broken pelvis and femur. We believe (per the current vet) he will require surgery to correct his injuries.

He is currently in the great hands of Medvet Worthington. Shout out to them for their care and compassion for Charger and us!!
Surgery in the morning to repair the damage after being hit by a car 😞
They will be exploring the best possible repair/solution after they get in there and see the full extent of the damage.
We have included the estimate below in the pictures. This is for both emergency care and his surgery.
Please keep Charger in your thoughts and prayers for his surgery in the morning. 🙏
Please help us with his medical if you can and please share!!

Charger has been resting comfortably in his foster home since his release from MedVet this afternoon. He has an estimated recovery time of 8-10 weeks. He has 4 fractures, several abrasions, bruising and his hip dislocation was repaired. His demeanor is remarkable for all the pain he is in. He is on several medications, requires bandage changes every 2 days and, eye drops for his left eye. Most of his injuries occurred on his left side. No internal injuries were found which was a major blessing. We can guarantee he is receiving the best care possible and don’t get us started on the love and attention he is getting from his foster family. He has a sunny room all to himself with two big comfy orthopedic beds with lots of soft blankets. So many toys, bully sticks and antlers to help with boredom. Keeping him occupied and as still as possible will be a challenge once he starts feeling better but we are told that his pain is less now then before surgery. Please keep Charger in your thoughts and prayers for a full recovery with no complications. We appreciate all the donations coming in. We stand at $1950 and, the lower end of the surgery estimate is $5800. We are hoping the donations will continue to come in for him so we can continue to help other dogs in need as well. In the past year we have repaired two PDA’s, replaced 2 knees, amputated a tail, had 4 MRI’s, over a hundred spays/neuters, over 300 vaccinations, multiple tooth extractions and dentals, successfully treated a dog with stage 3 heartworm, removed several cancerous tumors on multiple dogs, a full mastectomy which required 3 surgeries, paid for preventions for heartworm, flea, tick, treated a Lyme positive dog, vision testing, multiple x-rays, neurology, cardiology, orthopedic and ophthalmology consults. Recently, a very emaciated dog went for a two week training program and, the list goes on. All our dogs receive all their vetting including spays and neuters, heartworm testing, dentals, microchip, age appropriate vaccinations, worming, fecal floats and, any additional medical procedures needed. We thoroughly vet our adopters and do home visits. We pull dogs from shelters, mills and take some owner surrenders. None of our volunteers are paid and spend countless hours transporting dogs to and from appointments and working with them to be the best dog they can be in the hopes they will find their forever family. We try very hard to be the very best for our dogs because they deserve it. Thank you for supporting our mission!
Please help if you can!!!
